At Stay Hungry we do not have predefined weight classes or age groupings for the youth and adult competitors. Predefined weight classes and age groupings are a limiting factor in getting athletes the best competition scenarios. This also prevents athletes from having to cut weight. We ask parents and adult athletes to register at the competitors actual weight.
We take care when creating brackets to ensure that teammates are separated and that every athlete has a positive competition experience. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out via email at info@stayhungrygrappling.com or check the FAQs for helpful registration tips for you or your youth competitor.
-
We create brackets based on the registered competitors' true age and weight, using a general rule of a 2-year/10lb range.
Whenever possible, we aim to separate boys and girls starting at age 10. However, we prioritize maintaining high-quality brackets over strict gender separation. Our goal is to ensure each athlete has a fair and competitive experience.
-
We create brackets based on the registered competitors age and weight, and gender. Adults will be separated into Adult or Master categories with a range of up to 20 lbs.
Whenever possible, we aim to make age and weight ranges more narrow for Masters divisions. However, we prioritize providing high-quality populated brackets in order to give you more matches. Our aim is to try to make all brackets have 6 competitors minimum if possible*
*This is not always possible
**Please note that weight should be determined dressed to compete
